Can you recommend some schools/colleges with Great Studio Art programs here in the United States?
Im looking for some top notch Studio Art classes here in the states. Can you recommend some? Tell me a little bit about your experiences if you have attended any of them.
Thanks!
Have you considered the Art Institutes? They have them all over the country.
Anywhere in the US? The best art schools in the US include: RISD, Cooper Union, Parsons, SVA, School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Maryland Institute College of Art, UCLA, Mass Art, Virginia Commonwealth, Pratt, School of the MFA Boston, Cranbrook, U Michigan Ann Arbor, Arizona State, Rochester Institute of Tech, U New Mexico, U Arizona, USC, UC Berkeley, California Institute of the Arts, Art Center College of Design, University of the Arts, Temple, and Boston U. RISD is the #1 on that list, btw.
I’ve taken classes at Mass Art and at the School of the MFA, Boston. I actually preferred SMFA, due to its small size and intimate nature. They also have an interesting format to their degrees – no required courses. You work with an advisor to sculpt your own course of study, and take the classes you need. Mass Art, however, is very good, and was very cheap for me, as I was in-state Mass.
Some of those are pure art schools, while others are good art programs at broader universities.

Add Alfred University as a school to check out. Has a top-notch art program. RIT is also a good program, especially for the more "craft" type art – wood, metal, etc.
UC Berkeley – when we visited there, the art prof whom we spoke with said, "If you’re serious about art, this isn’t the place for you." And from the art we saw displayed and the facilities we saw, I’d agree. The art work at our high school’s art department was better than what we saw at Berkeley.
