OMG… more RETARDS … OMG… more RETARDS!!! Dumb are taking over the world!!! Think you can argue with a real intelligent student? Check out my video on YouTube, where I can prove how retarded you arts students really are!!!
I usually use a … I usually use a finger and thumb, or one finger curved around the front of the wheel. I do this to avoid unwanted tilting forces being applied when panning. This means, however, that I am relying on the stabilizer to keep itself level…. I need to learn to take fuller control of the device, but it requires a very delicate touch. The good weather and daylight are here now, so I should be able to get out and get more experience, as long as there is not too much wind.
You make using the … You make using the steadicam look easy. Most people don’t realize how hard it can be. I need to start putting in the hours with mine now. Could you explain your technique a little please. How much are you controlling the panning ring? Is it a constant control with two fingers?
My whole system … My whole system weighs about 3 lbs. It could retain the same proportions and counterweights with a heavier camera if the centre of the gimbal was moved higher, nearer the camera. I made my gimbal lower than the MERLIN to maximise the inertia of my light-weight camera. I am happy enough with the design, but I wouldn’t like to over-stress the plastic universal joint. I think that if this was replaced with a stronger metal one, the design could cope with a heavy camera.
I think your design … I think your design is excellent. I’m thinking about making one but I am wondering if your design would take a larger camcorder like the Sony Z1 or Canon XH-A1?
